Which data do we process?

• Answers in the choice helper for as long as needed to show recommendations, filters and explanations in your current session.

What do we use data for?

• To keep the website technically reliable and secure.
• To show filters, comparison tables and product pages.
• To show a match score, explanation and trade-offs based on choice-helper answers.
• To keep the admin environment secure and manage manual road-bike, score and price data.
• To answer questions when you contact us.
• To improve the website with privacy-friendly statistics, if we add analytics and explain them beforehand.

Choice helper and recommendations

We use answers in the choice helper to determine which road bikes may better fit your budget, experience level, riding style, preferred position, comfort needs and preference for speed or versatility. The explanation behind a recommendation is based on product features and our assessment rules.

We do not use choice-helper answers to provide a personal bike fit, medical assessment or performance guarantee. Check frame size, geometry and setup yourself or with a specialist when that matters.

Affiliate links and shops

Some shop referrals may be affiliate links. This means RacefietsVergelijker may receive a commission if you buy something through such a link. The price does not have to be higher for you because of that.

Affiliate compensation does not determine which road bike we recommend, how a road bike scores or how editorial rankings are built. Commercial placements, advertisements and sponsored positions are labeled and kept separate from editorial assessment.

Once you click through to a shop or partner, that shop's or partner's privacy and cookie policy also applies.

Sharing with third parties

We only share data when needed for the website to work, when you choose to do so yourself or when we are legally required to. This can include:

• hosting and technical infrastructure;
• analytics or error monitoring, if configured in a privacy-conscious way;
• retailers or affiliate partners when you click through to a shop yourself or when a necessary redirect is used for a buy link;
• email or contact services when you contact us.

Retention periods

• The admin session cookie remains valid for up to 8 hours.
• We do not keep choice-helper answers longer than needed to show the advice, unless you explicitly choose storage.
• We keep technical logs for up to 30 days for security, debugging and administration, unless longer retention is needed to investigate abuse or meet legal obligations.
• Reviews are kept for as long as they are published or until deletion is appropriate and possible.

Under the GDPR, you have rights including access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and data portability where applicable.
